The Museum is in the Senior Citizen Recreation Activity Center. An assembly hall is built on the first floor of the Activity Center. Village people can engage in recreation activities, such as karaoke, here. With an additional gym and a conference room, the Activity Center is built as a multi-function place for the villagers.
The exhibition hall is located on the second floor. It is positioned to show “how the residents on the Cimei island used local resources to meet the demands for their daily life effectively in an adverse natural environment for such a long time. The exhibition focuses on the aspects of cooking utensils, food utensils, foods, clothes, buildings, settlements and living space, local histories, folk customs and temple fairs, and Cimei herb medicines.
In addition to stimulating the local economy with the culture as the foundation for the tourism business, the Museum is built to preserve and promote traditional culture, provide an optimal place for environmental education, enhance the awareness of culture among villagers, enrich the tourism resources of Cimei, develop local culture industry, and provide a base for local people in terms of their daily life and mutual exchange. The space of the Museum is divided into an exhibition hall, a digital experience area, and a DIY area. A series of exhibitions, including fantastic stones and cultural relics as well as tiles and children's toys left from the Japanese-occupied period.
In addition, the Museum is equipped with PCs. People can use them to search for domestic and international information and activities whenever necessary. The Museum will combine the cultural features of Cimei and its central role in tourism for further development in the future.
