Zhongyang Street (Central Street) was first settlement in Penghu, known to the elderly as “inner street” or “lower street”. Tens of alleys criss-cross the street block. Storefronts and houses inside the street block are structures restored based on the
original designs made in the Ming and Qing Dynasties. This street block is also home to several famous historic sites, including Shi Gong Temple, the Well of Ten-Thousand Soldiers and Shuixian Temple built in the first year of Qiang Dynasty’s Guangxu Period.
Located beside the center of Penghu Kaitai Tianhou Temple, the street is an old street of Penghu, and is also known as the First Street of Penghu. Under the county government’s planning, there accumulates many special businesses, so it is worth visiting no
matter for its accommodation, food, or ancient relics.
