Yuanbeiyu was a quiet, serene fishing village. Recreational fishing in recent years turned this village into a fun paradise in summer.
Cycling and walking are the ways to enjoy the picturesque view of this island. The island cruise trail in the hill area is still kept as a dirt path. A small depression at the center of Yuanbeiyu was once the agriculture zone on the island.
The coastal basalt pillars at north and sea cliff basalt rocks at northeast are composed of sophisticated systems of joints and faults, creating intriguing patterns of folds and pleats. The basalt formations here are well-known and often described as nature’s
paint brushes and inkstones or pleated skirt.
Away from the coast, the village’s winding path leads to the small hill. The high point is a must-go spot on Yuanbeiyu where unobstructed views will open your eyes to the vast sea and the magnificent basalt wonder unfolds against blue sky.
