Tsai, Ting-lan was the only “jinshi (successful candidate in the highest imperial examinations in ancient China)” in Penghu’s history. The old “Eight-scene poem” was believed to be Tsai’s work. During the Daoguang Era in Qing Dynasty, Tsai went back
to Penghu
for ancestor worshipping, and built this Jinshi Residence in the Fujian style.
