Address:
Fongguei Vil., Magong City, Penghu County
Fongguei is located at the very end of Fongguei Peninsula, the peninsula that sits southwest of Penghu’s main island. As the land-tied islands with Shihli connected by three narrow isthmuses, it faces Magong Harbor and the urban area of Magong to the north, Sijiaoyu and Jilong Islet to the northwest and the west with a waterway between them, and Hujingyu and Tongpanyu to the southeast at a distance.
The lee side of south Fongguei Peninsula is where the villages are settled. Shetou Hill, located at the north of the villages, guards the Magong Harbor with its geographical location. A fort was built 400 years ago atop the hill by Dutch, making this place the first location in Taiwan to have a western-style fort (Dutch Fort).
There are several small fishing ports around Fongguei Community. The beach in front of the Jinwang Temple is East Port, the port leading to the community; the northeast port, called “Neigang (inland port)” as it is an inland sea, or called as East Fishing Port by the fishery administration unit or as North Port, is the biggest fishing port in the village as well as the one with the deepest depth of water among these ports; the west, which was called “Káng-á-âu (throat of the port)” before a port was built here, has a fishing port - West Port. The fishing port in the north is “Backport,” also called Xihu Port because of the stone weirs in the early past.
