Jiangmei Village has the old name of "Port's-End" due to its location at the end of the town's seaport. The early villagers settled here and named the place "Port's-End", which was
renamed to Jiangmei in 1955.
Jiangmei Jhenhai Community Seawall Park connects the Jiangmei and Jhenhai communities, and was jointly constructed by the Jiangmei and Jhenhai communities of Baisha Township in May 1999. They designed the OK shape community logo to add some fun to the seawall park and create a landmark that always leaves a deep impression. The popular pop music group Mayday also recorded a music video here and sang the song "OK La!", which is quite fitting for the scene.
The Jiangmei OK logo has a cement construction foundation and is made using the special local coral rocks of Penghu. The OK logo hidden behind the low seawall and the planted trees can be seen while crossing the Yong'an Bridge through Highway 203. There is also a wooden staircase and gazebo observation deck for visitors to take a rest, enjoy the splendid view of the sea and the sky, and capture the perfect moment of peace and leisure.
After crossing the seawall, there is an endless view of the seashell beach. The tidal changes also create different sceneries for the seawall park. During high tide, the fine and flat seashell beach, as well as the blue clear sea, lie quietly and ebb with the tides.
Looking into the distant sea, you can also vaguely see one of the mysterious attractions of Ping Island -- the Jiangmei Sentry Post of the Sea -- standing alone gracefully in a corner of the sea.
