Kueibishan, famous for its scenery of fishing light along with the stars at night, has long been seen as one of the eight most scenic spots in Penghu.A basalt pathway of 500 meters in length between the Kueibishan and another islet on the east side called “Chiyu” appears on the ebb. It is enjoyable to go and collect shells, observe the diverse ecosystem of the intertidal zone, or climb Chiyu during the time. Kueibishan and Chiyu abound with basalt terrain and are included as one of the six basalt parks in Penghu initially scheduled.
These two locations are typical land-tied islands, so it is possible to get to Chuyu on foot on the ebb tide. Please notice the time of the ebb and flood if you want to walk through this gravel path. During the flood tide, the seawater level rises behind Chiyu where you can’t see, and when the seawater rises to a certain level, it flows fiercely from the two ends of Chiyu. There were visitors or even local residents who died because they were not familiar with the ebbs and flows of the tides and thus were unable to leave in time.
In addition to paying great attention to the time, it is also important to have a professional guide who knows the property of seawater of the place well.
Kueibishan Geopark has abundant basalt that contains olivine and marine abrasion landforms, which are significant features of this geopark.
