Occupying a total area of 140 hectares, the “Penghu Recreation Area” sits in Gaillardia Garden, Dongwei Forest, and Tianren Lake in Magong City, Penghu County.
The recreation area is bisected into the northern and southern sections by County Highway 204. Due north, it links Dongwei Forest; due south, in connects Xingren Reservoir. IN between there are spots including Gaillardia Garden, the Water Lily Pond, the Lotus
Pond, the outdoor classroom for soil and water conservation, Tianren Lake, Shuanlong Lake, the Shuanhu Garden, the Caiyuan Wetlands, the Caiyuan Nursery, and the Rongyuan Wooden Path. Facilities in the area include the parent-child activity lawn and public
toilets for visitors to enjoy great venues for outdoor activities and convenient infrastructures. As part of an integral, thematic development plan, it is a large multifunctional area combining ecological conservation, tourism, and leisure functions.
Trees and greeneries are everywhere in the area, including the cherry blossom, cactus, and lemon trees. Current, the area is divided into five sections: Forest Conservation Section, Headwater Conservation Section, Outdoor Classroom for Soil and Water Conservation,
Caiyuan Nursery, and Flower Sea Section.
In recent years, the Agriculture and Fisheries Bureau of the Penghu County Government has specifically organized the Spring Flower Festival for visitors to watch the colorful garden cosmos and lavender in spring. Visiting the festival and walking along the
Dongwei Forest Road, Tianren Lake, and Rongyuan in the area, you can feel how the beauty of lake view in spring heralds a new image for Penghu.
The rich natural gorgeous landscapes in the Penghu Recreation Area have turned the area into an ideal venue for leisure and morning and evening exercise to local citizens and a wonderful choice for picnics to visitors.
