Address:
Hujing, Magong City, Penghu County
Hujingyu is the 7th largest island of the Penghu Archipelago and 7 nautical miles away from Magong City. There is a hill on the east and west of the island, respectively, and the village is located between the two hills. The east hill is a militarily controlled area and not open to the public, while the west hill is a recreational area with a park developed after streamlining of the army.
There is only one road toward the west hill and tourists can see the landscape of basalt columns on the left of the road. Tourists can drive upward along the road to see the west hill park.
There is a Baiyu Guanyin Statue and a set of Eighteen Arhats statues in the west hill park. In 1994, Ying-Chieh Chen, a Hujing villager in Hong Kong, invited a sculpture master from Mainland China to carve the Baiyu Guanyin Statue and donated it to his hometown, where he has left for a long period of time. The looks and the swinging clothes are very vivid. Since the statue was too large to be transported to Hujing directly, it was cut into three equal parts and combined again at Hujing. As a result, there are three visible joints on the body of the statue. In the west hill park, tourists can see nearby islands from the location of the Baiyu Guanyin Statue on sunny days. The Hujing west hill underground bunker and the Tropic of Cancer Monument are located not far away from the west hill park.
【Recommended stay time】 0.5 hours; the stay time at Hujing is short. It is recommended to stay overnight on the island.
