Shanshui 30 Plateau Park was once a restricted area and a base for military drills under the jurisdiction of the National Military’s Wude Battalion. Located on hilltop west of Shanshui Beach, an army company was stationed in this area (restricted military
zone).
The County Government took over and redeveloped this area with the adjacent Shanshui Wetland Park into a new landmark.
Enter from the Shanshui Wetland Park, walk along the Shanshui Jetty and then turn to the boarded walk. You will arrive at Shanshui 30 Plateau Park accompanied by various chirping birds (especially in winter).
Before you arrive at the peak, you will pass by the Shanshui Roaring Cave. At the peak, you will be treated to a panoramic view of the Shanshui Beach and the community. The military facilities in the area are now galleries for artwork.
Shanshui Roaring Cave is a ditch under a cliff formed by erosion of the sea waves. During high tide, the waves thrust into the cave and compress the air, so when the water rushes out of the cave, a roaring sound is heard. This is a natural phenomenon similar
to a blowhole.
