Chiang Kai-Shek Hall of Penghu Defense Command, located in Xinfu Village, Magong City, was built in 1967 and used for large-scale military meeting occasions at the early stage. It has once become a second-run movie theater for military members and civilians to watch movies at a low price. During the two decades, from the beginning of the 1960s to the end of the 1970s, the Chiang Kai-Shek Hall nearby was the best venue for leisure to the residents. Young people came and had a date or watched movies, while the elderly considered here as the best place to gather and chat. The convenience shop inside Chiang Kai-Shek Hall and vendors who hawked their goods around the place before the movie started and after the movie ended were great memories to the children in the village as well.
An observatory deck has been built in recent years behind the Chiang Kai-Shek Hall. The deck overlooks the coastline and the intertidal zone, and provides more quietness and an extremely vast view. Instead of watching the sunset at the crowded Guanyinting with other visitors, one can enjoy the sea and sunset view or even observe Xiying Rainbow Bridge from different angles here. The superb Chiang Kai-Shek Hall Observatory Deck provides more opportunities to get closer to the sea and sun.
A bronze statue of the young An-bang Pan and his grandmother stands on the lawn nearby the deck. With the promotion of the Magong Cultural Center Project, Chiang Kai-Shek Hall is designed to be an area for artistic and cultural activities. Performing activities and art-related industries are expected to be brought in and make Chiang Kai-Shek Hall a place for leisure and consumption for both visitors and locals.
