The two-way passenger liner route from Longmen to Chiayi Budai was officially opened on April 28, 2017. At a distance of 28 nautical miles, the total voyage is about
55 minutes,
which brings the distance between Taiwan and Penghu closer by shortening up to 30 minutes compared to the existing Magong-Budai voyage route.
Located in the JianShan Wharf area of Longmen, Penghu; the waiting room built by Longmen Commercial Port is a large red container house. The avant-garde industrial style was designed and planned by the Kaohsiung Pier-2 Container Arts Festival Team. The image
of the container breaking through from the ground signifies the rebirth of Longmen Port to usher in the new era of two-way voyage.
The Longmen JianShan Wharf area is an excellent harbor because it contains high terrains at the two sides that can block the northeast monsoon winds. Therefore, the area was planned to be a passenger ferry wharf for fishing boats or for passenger and cargo
ships to access the port in 1997. The one-way route from Chiayi Budai to Penghu Longmen started on April 2013. The passenger and cargo ports that opened up at the Longmen JianShan Wharf have had a pretty good passenger traffic and cargo shipping volume effect.
So in 2017, the Longmen-Budai two-way route started operation under the joint efforts by the central and local governments. This new blue route can increase the number of tourists visiting Penghu, facilitate the development of the port industry, and connect
the sightseeing spots surrounding the Chiayi Budai and Penghu Longmen areas. Examples include the Chiayi High Heel Church, Southern Branch of the National Palace Museum, Aimen Beach near the Penghu Longmen area, Lintou Park, Longmen Underground Tunnel, Longmen
Lizhengjiao Bay, Guoye Sunrise, Nanliao Settlement, Kueibishan Moses Parts the Sea, and other famous scenic spots. The new two-way route has created a brand new blue tourism super highway.
