Xueziwei is located between the Xiaochijiao and Chima areas of Siyu Township. The broad inter-tidal zone and reef topography are exposed at low tide, and a lot of inter-tidal
organisms such as snails can be found on the wave-cut platform. There is also a large beach at the side, making the Xueziwei  Wave-cut Platform one of the best natural secret hotspots of Penghu.

Chihsi village and Xueziwei areas in Siyu Township have primarily tantalum basalt-based terrain. In addition to the columnar basalt, the geology of the area also contains numerous craterlets and maars. The Xueziwei Wave-cut Platform is speculated by scholars
to be formed by a large maar lava lake. Under the sea and wave erosion processes, the sea cliff gradually collapsed to form a flat rock platform that has almost the same height as the sea surface. The wave-cut platform is dotted with small maars or jet openings,
tidal pools formed by seawater erosion, potholes, etc.

In addition to the special topographies and landforms formed by the volcano and sea erosion effects, the Xueziwei Wave-cut Platform also contains a vast inter-tidal zone. The inter-tidal zones of Penghu are wide and rich in diversity. They are covered by the
sea during high tide and exposed during low tide. The dry and wet alternate periods caused by the tides and the rich sun of Penghu enable the inter-tidal organisms to be diverse and thrive. The Xueziwei Wave-cut Platform has an extremely wide inter-tidal zone.
The local residents can come to pick up snails during low tide. In addition, hermit crabs, black sea cucumbers, and other sea creatures also appear frequently.

During high tide, the wave-cut platform is submerged under seawater. The reef area that stays above the water looks like a lone island, and is composed of small land-tied coral debris. At low tide, the reef area become a fishing paradise for rockfishers. Due
to the complex and unpredictable depths of the underwater terrain, as well as the rich aquatic plants and animals, the area is an excellent place for the fish to feed and lay eggs. So the area has abundant fish resources.

In addition to the special wave-cut platform topography and rich inter-tidal zone biodiversity, the mostly deserted Xueziwei is also a perfect wave-watching point. Take a stroll along the beach and enjoy the beautiful infinite horizon. It's as if the only sounds
left in the world are made of the waves and your own heartbeats that gradually make you forget all your worries.
