Zhongtun was once called Zhongdun (central mound) because it is a dirt mound located in between Penghu and Baisha Islands. It was named Zhongtun (central settlement) with a slight twist in pronunciation in the Republic era.
The Yongan and Zhongzheng Bridges link the small islet to Baisha Island at north and Penghu Island at south respectively.
Later development of the Penghu Great Bridge linked the four major townships of Penghu, Magong, Huxi, Baisha and Xiyu, into connected vicinities.
When you drive through the north ring road, eight giant windmills dressed in white will emerge in the skyline after you pass Zhongzheng Bridge. Northeasterly wind in winter and south wind in summer glide through the blades of the windmills driving them to
hum
in a low frequency.
At the entrance of this village, there is a pergola and a sea view park. You can take a picture with the giant windmills at this spot.
