The Dongshi Environmental Park completed at the end of 2010 was greened and restored by the Huxi Township Office. Located near the coast, the park has landscapes and
facilities
including an entrance image wall, a coral stone wall labyrinth, and a stone trail. In the flowering season, firewheels (Gaillardia pulchella) swing everywhere and attract packs of visitors swarming in.
The park was the first landfill on Penghu and was closed in 2003 after it became saturated. It was the township office which revitalized this abandoned landfill by turning it into an environmental park with park facilities including a coral stone labyrinth,
a landscape trail, awnings, and stone stones and benches.
The labyrinth is mini and built with 100cm-tall coral stone walls. On the large meadow nearby, a red traditional bullock cart sits in a corner.
The Dongshi Environmental Park is near the coast and Penghu Airport. As it is also near the flight path, when summer sets in and firewheels bloom everywhere, it becomes a great spot for photography, sightseeing, enjoying breezes, and watching aircrafts.
