Located in Jiangmei Village, Baisha Township, Penghu, there is a mysterious sentry post next to Ping Island . It comprises a small square building erected in the middle of the
sea. During low tide, a cement road of about 300 meters connecting to Jiangmei Fishing Port appears. During high tide, the cement road is submerged under the sea, and the sentry post becomes an island on top of the sea.

During the early days before the Zhongzheng and Yong'an bridges were built, this road used to be the primary transportation path between Baisha and Huxi townships, and people had to wait until low tide to pass. The sentry post was erected during the politically
sensitive periods after the liberation, where soldiers were stationed here to check the passenger IDs. As time passed by and the transportation infrastructure advanced, the sentry post lost its purpose and the troops stationed here were withdrawn about 5 decades
ago. The people may have left, but the post still stands graciously in the middle of the sea.

In recent years, Penghu has become a tourism destination secret and this place has turned into a popular check-in spot. However, because this secret location offers different appearances during different tides, tourists should note that the best photo shots
can only be captured during low tides. Please mind the tidal changes when visiting the sentry post to avoid being trapped during high tide.
