Penghu County is also one of the municipalities of Taiwan on the path of the Tropic of Cancer, which crosses the farthest point of Taiwan at the west, the Hujing Island.



In recent years, the Penghu County Government launched a project to build two monuments on the island. The Sun Chase Boulevard is 55 meters in length and 4 meters in width decorated with colorful relief slabs marking cultural symbols of all countries in the
world and a list of all 16 countries along the Tropic of Cancer. At the end of the boulevard is a sculpture of two hands that points the positions of sunset at different seasons. Anchoring on the precise direction of west where the sun sets on the days of
spring and autumn equinox, the sun sets on the farthest angle of the monument to the north on summer solstice and farthest to the south on winter solstice.
